I spent over a decade as a graphic designer for Franklin Templeton, a mutual funds company based in San Mateo, and decided to return to school in 2008 to finish my degree in that field. Little did I know that I would discover the bright jewel of the south bay that is SJSU's animation/illustration program. After my first stint in Art 28, I was hooked. I always loved telling stories but taking these classes ignited a deeper passion within.
I enjoy every part of the process, all parts of visual development, but animation really resonated with me. I spent 2 weeks this past summer with Rex Grignon and David Chai in the CSU Summer Arts, Dreamworks Animation Workshop and after 15 hour days for 14 days straight and loving every waking minute of it... this is my place in this world.
Going forward from beyond SJSU, the dream is film, but I would definitely enjoy delving into the world of video games as well.
This first piece is a graphite rendering I did of a "hero tree" which would eventually become the centerpiece of an enchanted forest.
And this is a speed painting I did in photoshop referenced from a photograph I found online. Time spent on this was an hour.
Here is a recording of the painting sped up to fit in 3.5 mins.
And lastly, here is my Spring 2013 Demo Reel:
